Our Speakers
PASTOR RICK BAKER was born in 1955 and born again in 1972. Brother Rick married his wife, Vicki, in 1973. The Lord has blessed them with 37 happy years of marriage, 2 children, and 3 grandchildren (with another expected in March of this year).
In 1989, Brother Rick surrendered to preach and follow the Lord wherever He would lead. He has been the pastoring at Faith Baptist Church in Mint Hill, NC for 15 wonderful years.
Brother Rick met Brother James in 1992 at a Spring Fellowship Meeting in Monroe, NC. The two became instant friends. In his own words, “Brother James has sure been a dear, dear friend, and has added so much to my life.”
(Those attending last year’s meeting might remember Pastor Baker wielding an ax, “campaigning” for HOPE, and/or being awarded for actually sticking to the designated time limit.)
PASTOR JOE CAMMILLERI is the founder and pastor of the Old Paths Bible Baptist Church in Rochester, NY, and the Director of the Upstate Bible Institute of New York.
The church believes that strong families within, heavily involved in evangelism at home and abroad, will enhance the member’s vision to reach the world. Currently, Old Paths has 13 missionary families either serving or preparing to serve at home and abroad.
His hero is Pastor James Knox of Deland, FL. He has a strong desire to be like him, when he grows up.
(Who could forget Pastor Cammilleri’s imaginative and fascinating account of the family devotion time at the Knox residence in 2008? And who can remember what it had to do with the message on “The Integrity of God?”)
PASTOR ROBERT CARLSON is a Canadian by birth. He was born again at the age of 11 and surrendered to full-time ministry for God at 17. He graduated from Bible Institute at the age of 22, was married at 28, and began pastoring at 29.
He is still saved; still surrendered to God; still happily married; and still pastoring the same wonderful congregation! “To God be the glory, great things he has done.”
In 1990, Rob and his wife, Susan, moved to the central Canadian province of Manitoba to start an independent, Bible-preaching church in a city of 13,000 people—Portage la Prairie. Now 20 years later, they have been overwhelmed with the goodness of God on their lives and in their church, and feel privileged to be able to make life's journey alongside so many of God's choice servants. Now a family of 5, they are often heard saying that the Lord has blessed them far more than they deserve.
(If anyone passes out with a heat stroke while we’re ministering together Wednesday afternoon, chances are, it will be a member of the Carlson family. They’re more accustomed to holiday parade evangelism at temperatures of 24 below.)
PASTOR JOEL LOGAN was born in Decatur, AL, where he was raised in an Independent Baptist Church and led to Christ by his father at the age of 5. Brother Joel surrendered his life to Christ at the age of 23 and was called to preach the same year.
He attended Tabernacle Baptist Bible College in Greenville, SC, where he met and married Abigail Sightler. The Logans have been blessed with 4 children, ranging in age from 12 to 2.
In 1994, Brother Joel was called to pastor Sweet Springs Baptist Church in Ardmore, AL, where, by God’s grace, he has ministered now for 15 years.
Pastor Logan’s younger brother, Brent, is a missionary in Brasov, Romania, and a regular speaker at our conference. The two are easy to tell apart—except for on the 3 music CDs they have recorded with their mother.
(You might not have known that Pastor Logan and Pastor Suttle were roommates and starred on the basketball team during their time at Tabernacle.)
PASTOR RANDY NEWCOMER was born on February 28, 1957 in Lima, Ohio. He was raised in a denominational church—religious, but lost. After high school, he studied music at Indiana University. In December of 1979, he was invited to a holiday service preached by an old high school friend. Conviction was real. God was kind. Prayers were answered. Brother Randy was born again in January of 1980.
He was baptized and continued to grow through the ministry of the Lima Baptist Temple. There he was re-introduced to Natalie. The two were married in January of 1981 and have 3 children: Aaron, Annie, and Nathan.
In 1981, the Newcomers moved to Chattanooga and attended Bible college. Following graduation, Brother Randy worked for 6 years as an associate in music, youth, and Christian education ministries at Bible Baptist Church in Yuma, AZ. There he was thoroughly grounded in the authority and perfection of the Scriptures. In 1991, Brother Randy became the pastor of Central Baptist Church in Canton, OH, where he continues to have the honor to labor for the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Brother Randy was a “new-comer” to the conference in 2004. In fulfillment of a prophecy spoken by Pastor Tony Finney, he’s been a “come-backer” ever since.)
PASTOR SCOTT SUTTLE was born on June 14, 1971, in a little town just east of Asheville named Swannanoa. He was saved at the age of 11 in a Vacation Bible School at a little country home church in Black Mountain, NC. God began to deal with Scott’s heart about preaching the word, and he preached his first message on May 7, 1986, just prior to his fifteenth birthday. In 1989, Scott attended Tabernacle Baptist Bible College in Greenville, SC. During his fourth year, he met the love of his life, Jennifer. They were married in the fall of 1993. Soon after, they moved to Marion, NC to work with the youth and in the Christian school at Jennifer’s home church, Maranatha Baptist.
Around the first of the year in 1997, Scott received a call from Pastor Brent Logan, to come and be the Youth Director at the Spring City Baptist Church in Cleveland, VA. After much prayer, the Suttle Family moved and began working in the ministry at Spring City that same summer. In June of 2003, Brother Logan announced his burden to go to the mission field and step aside as the pastor of the church. The church graciously accepted Scott to take the helm, where he still is the pastor. The Suttles have been blessed with 3 children, and are expecting their fourth in June of this year.
(
Brother Scott first preached at our Bible Conference in 2008, when he memorably declared that “preaching on the grace of God is like trying to hug an elephant.” )
For our 12th Annual Bible Conference, the topic is The Body of Jesus.
